Kay Arlene (Rife) Bookwalter, 82, of Walton, went home to be with her Lord early Friday morning, April 24, 2026, at 5:42 a.m. She was born September 19, 1943, in Walton to Loran “Boney” and Ruby L. (Kay) Rife. She married Arlan Bookwalter on October 11, 1963, in Cass County. Arlan preceded her in death November 20, 2020.
Kay worked as a secretary for Hoover Hearing for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed shopping, watching basketball, vacationing, especially trips to the beach and Disney and her little dog Molly.
Surviving family include her children, Kelly and husband Ron Polhamus of Georgia; Cami and husband Mark McLeland of Walton and Jeff and wife Jami Bookwalter of Walton. Surviving grandchildren include, Dustin and Andrew Schutte, Colton Bookwalter, Lauren, Garrett and Kenzie McLeland, and Nicole, Samantha, and Brea Polhamus. She is also survived by one great grandson, Braxton. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arlan and her little dog Molly.
Kay’s family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the Torkelson family for their love, care and compassion of her the past two years.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Doug Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Walton IOOF Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home on Thursday.
